Information Report on the activity:

The 10th edition of COMPOSITE-EXPO Exhibition organized by Mir-Expo Exhibition Company and The Union of Composites Manufacturers was held on February 28 – March 2, 2017 at Expocentre Fairgrounds, Moscow, Russia.

Current economics condition, currency exchange rate fluctuations, the dramatically declining oil prices being affecting the Russian market for composite materials and equipment usage continue to develop and extend. Nowadays there is a task for domestic manufacturers to improve its competitive position for potential import substitution and the high currency exchange rate only induces the companies to achieve the goal: there is an active search for new alternative materials, new spheres, and development of new materials.

Russian composites market is in its infancy, the long term deployment is expected in the nearest future. That’s why we witness constant demand on COMPOSITE-EXPO show from Russian and foreign companies.

COMPOSITE-EXPO is a leading international specialized event in composite industry in Russia, where full range of manufactures of raw materials, equipment and finished products of composites is widely introduced. In 2017 display area increased by more than 15 percents and the exhibition attracted by 5% more visitors in comparison with the last year edition: over 9000 specialists. 139 exhibitors took part in the show from 19 countries (Austria, Belgium, Belarus Republic, Czech Republic, France, Finland, Germany, Islamic Republic of Iran, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Macedonia, Netherlands, the People’s Republic of China, Poland, Russia, Slovak Republic, Spain, Turkey and United Kingdom).

The following companies exhibited at the event for the first time: Advanced Corporation for Materials & Equipments, AKARMAK, АpATeCh, Basalt Projects Group, BONYAN KALA CHEMIE Co, ETERUS-TECHNO LLC, GF Machinery, Havel Composites, HimAlyans GC LLC, Institute of plastics named after Petrov G.S., IRBIS PROJECTS LTD, KLEIBERIT, Porcher Industries, TECHNOS, a.s. and others.

At the Composite-Expo 2017 were presented the following brand new materials and products:

BauTex presented at the events new samples of complex multilayer fabrics, consisting of roving fabrics, polyester nonwoven material with width from 0,5 up 4 m and areal weight from 450 to 2000 g/sq m.; multiaxial fabrics up to 6 layers of roving in main directions 0°,90°,+45°,-45° (axial angle can be changed) with width from 0,5 to 2,5 m and areal weight from 450 g to 3000 g/sq m. New recipes were developed In SMC product range with fire resistance rating G1 according to GOST, and also SMC with lower areal resistance (end product housings do not accumulate electrostatic charges on the surface).

The SCHOLZ company develops, designs and manufactures complete autoclave systems for the production of composite parts. For the first time in history the company SCHOLZ presented the biggest autoclave for German railway transportation system. The technical parameters of this autoclave are as follows: outside diameter - 6,400 mm; length - 35,000 mm; vessel volume - nearly 1,000 m³; weight - approx. 250 tons.

At the Composite Expo 2017 the company EXITON TEST Ltd presented a new video extensometer for precision, noncontact measurement of sample deformation. Video Extensometer uses a high resolution monochrome camera, advanced high speed image processing, and cool lighting such that the point to point real-time video processing technology is capable of achieving, and exceeding, ASTM E83 Class B1 and ISO 9513 Class 0.5 accuracy. With continuous measurement through tensile break or compressive rupture, this Video Extensometer is perfect for the precise, non-contact measurement of specimen strain.

ETERUS-TECHNO, LLC demonstrated the samples of the fiber-glass sheet the width of which up to 3 meters this sheet has a decorative and protective (gelcoating) coat-ing manufactured on production line of continuous forming being launched for the first time in Russia. This technology was realized with the support of State Organization "Fund for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises in Science and Technology" in 2016, this organization is situated in Moscow. This sheet is used for the production of sandwich panels of which the insulated constructions of various purposes, are collected such as: refrigerators, manufactured goods vans, crew buses, mobile homes, modular design, etc. At present, the fiberglass sheet used for the production of sandwich panels is fully imported from abroad. Production capacity of the line allows producing 3 million sq. meters of fiberglass sheet per year, that fact fully meets the needs of Russian consumers of these products. This project is carried out within the import substitution project.

Coatema Coating Machinery GmbH has released a 19m long universal prepreg line for thermoplastics and thermosettings, which allows coating woven substrates with multi-directional fibers construction or alternative singular aramid, carbon and glass fibres. Therefore we have installed a creel with 2*180 bobbins.

Havel Composites Company presented news in our assortment: carbon and glass prepregs, aluminium and plastic honeycombs, grinders and tools.

February 28, 2017 at Southern Conference-hall, Pavilion Forum, within the business program of the Composite-Expo exhibition there were held the "Current State and Prospects of Development of Production and Use of Composite Materials in Russia", 9th Practical-Research Conference, organized by Union of Composites Manufacturers and Mir-Expo Exhibition Company LLC. The Conference attracted over 500 specialists. This great amount was achieved not alone by web-broadcasting of the event (as reference – about 200 visitors in the hall and 300 ones – on-line) but hard-driving program as well.

During the conference there discussed the matters regarding composite materials manufacturing and use, and main problems of Russian composite market development and the ways of their possible solutions. At the conference the specialist of the many Russian and foreign companies took part. They are as follows: Ministry of Investment and Innovation of Moscow Oblast, Scientific Research Institute of Energy Structures (NIIES), RusHydro PJSC, Composites Construction Materials Association, STEKLONiT JSC, Prepreg-SKM JSC, All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials ("VIAM" FSUE), PLM Urals, OCSiAl.ru LLC, EPITAL JSC, IPG IRE-Polus.

March 1st, 2017 at Conference-hall D02, Pavilion 1, within the business program of the Composite-Expo exhibition there was held the Roundtable called “Composites Market Development in Moscow Region” being organized by Ministry of Investment and Innovation of Moscow Oblast, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moscow Oblast and Union of Composites Manufacturers.

At the same time with Composite-Expo, there held the 9th edition of the international specialized exhibition POLYURETHANEX that allowed a wide range of specialists to get acquainted with innovation technologies of manufacturing and samples of finished products of polyurethane materials for different branches of industry and attracted significant attention of specialists of the industry: manufacturers and consumers of adhesive and sealing materials. In 2017 display area increased by more than 15 percents and the exhibition attracted by 5% more visitors in comparison with the last year edition: over 5000 specialists. 66 exhibitors took part in the events from 14 countries (Austria, United Kingdom, Hungary, Germany, India, Italy, People's Republic of China, Netherlands, Belarus Republic, Republic of Korea, Latvia, Russia, Poland, USA & Turkey).

In 2017, on the space over 6500 sq. m. there situated 205 exhibitors, including 123 national (domestic) companies and 82 foreign ones from 19 countries. Over 15500 people visited the shows and 90% of them were specialists in different fields of industry. It witnesses growing demands of the Russian market to use modern innovation materials and technologies in different industries.

The 11th Composite-Expo 2018 will be held February 27 – March 2, 2018 in Expocentre Fairgrounds, Pavilion 1, Moscow, Russia traditionally simultaneously with 10th Polyurethanex 2018.
