AkzoNobel is the largest global paints and coatings company and a major producer of specialty chemicals. Expancel is a part of Akzo Nobel company in Sweden which produces Expancel microspheres. These small spherical plastic particles. The microspheres consist of a polymer shell encapsulating a gas. It is a multi-performance additive that gives a multitude of advantages to numerous applications. Expancel microspheres can be used as a blowing agent, weight reducer and property improver in many different applications. The expansion capacity and low density (0.02-0.03 g/cm3) along with a closed cell structure and excellent compressibility and resiliency give benefits to numerous other products based on PU, polyester and epoxy resins. They allow to achieve raw material save, lower weight, better resistance to hot/cold  cycles, easier sand, as well as to improve isolation properties.
